Just getting ready to turn in - feels good to actually have a routine with a normal schedule again. It did feel great to sleep in a regular bed last night and Lou's home is so lovely and peaceful.  Ed mostly rested in the recliner and dozed and watched a little TV.  We hooked up a DVD player and got a half dozen movies at Blockbuster tonight - if any of you haven't seen "Despicable Me" - the animated cartoon - it's pretty cute.   We finally got all the meds from the pharmacy tonight - they had to order some - and I'm hoping that means Ed will feel even better tomorrow. The transition from IV meds to sublingual and patches wasn't easy, but hopefully day 2 will bring more level relief.

Several more cards came in the mail today - so great - it really makes him smile to hear the blog comments and read the cards.  I'm hoping tomorrow he will feel like venturing outdoors to the patio to have a little time in the fresh air.  The flowers blooming outside are beautiful and will lift his spirits for sure.  The TPN is only running about 16 hours a day, so he has 8 hours of freedom when he's not hooked up to anything.  I'm going to do my best to get him outside during his IV-free time the next couple of days, even if it's just for a few minutes.

Thanks for your blog hugs and well wishes.... I'll be back tomorrow with more on Ed.  Hope you all sleep well.

  1. Hi Liz thanks for the blog update - I can't really go to bed without checking for an update --- so thankful for any good news. Ed, get your ass outside tomorrow even for a couple of minutes, and feel that sun and wind on your naked face because it wont be long until you're strong enough to soak it up on your bike and on the boat. Love you guys, TC

  2. I loved Despicable Me! You know I'm not up to date on all the movies out, but that was my favorite of last year! Ed, I hope you're up to getting some sunshine today; it's the most healing element this earth has to offer, physically and emotionally. Besides, I'm jealous - the 10-day forecast shows for rain, rain, rain, rain, rain, more rain (you get the idea). Love you both - Jeanne

  3. Forgot to say, Liz, you're doing an incredible job keeping up this blog. It's a wonderful gift to all of your friends, especially knowing how time consuming it must be. xoxox Jeanne

  4. Ed, you’re going to have to kick the “way back machine” into high gear to remember who this message is from!

This is Jack, John and Nancy Toland’s son. In case you’re having a hard time remembering, in the 80’s I was the awkward looking red-haired kid, runnin’ around all the car shows telling dirty jokes while trying not to get caught by my mother, (whom I learned the jokes from). I live in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Still have red hair, still awkward, I’m just taller now.

I received this link from dad who lives near Houston, who got it from Ray Lund who lives near Pueblo Colorado, who got it from Don Colucci. Man, you’re nationwide! I didn’t think between the three of them they could turn on a computer much less forward a blog post. But I guess if you can remember the firing order on every internal combustion engine ever made between 1930 and 1985, you can probably learn how to use e-mail!

I was sorry to hear you are sick. There goes my theory on fast cars and beer making you indestructible? Believe it or not you had a big influence on me growing up, which would explain my affinity for T-Buckets and Coors Light! That being said my standards have always been fairly low.

Mom, Dad, and I all have you in our thoughts. We’re hoping you make a speedy recovery. You get better and head out to Southern New Mexico, I’ll have a Colorado Kool-Aid on ice with your name on it!

    P.S.
Liz, you sound like a great lady. Not only caring for Ed while he’s sick, and keeping us all informed via your blog, But for putting up with him when he’s 100%. If memory serves, that’s no walk in the park either!

    Keep up the good work.

You are in my thoughts every day, brother, and I mean that. Get well soon and I'm looking forward to seeing you again. Love you man, TC
